SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Thursday, May 11, 2006
First let me say that I'm VERY proud of all my students in both Chemistry & Physics. These are not easy subjects and I believe in challenging my students to rise the potential that I know each of them has. I also believe that the time they have to learn as much as they can before they are out on their own is very precious. Both classes have 1 remaining Chapter Test (Physics - tomorrow, May 12, and Chemistry - Monday, May 15). Please encourage your students to hang in there and keep studying as Tests are 40% of their Quarterly Grade.
By Monday, ALL my students will have in hand their Semester Test Study Packet which consists of ALL of the Chapter Tests they've taken this semester. Encourage them to go over each question on each past test and write down any reminders, equations, constants, or any other material they think they might need to answer similar questions on their semester test. Each student has a 5 x 8 index card that they may write whatever they wish and they may use this on their semester test. Again, encourage them to take the time to work on their index cards so that study time is put in before the Semester test and so that they will have a meaningful way of jogging their memory as they take the Test itself.
Finally, thank you for giving me the opportunity to get to know your students and (hopefully!) to help them acheive whatever goals they have set for themselves in the future. I pray that God will bless each of them in the coming years!
In His Love, Belinda Nooner

Just a note for my students & parents.
With the end of the semester coming soon, I've added a section called Missing Assignments to let students know what they can still turn in for credit. My Policy states that an assignment will be given a "0" if it is turned in after we've gone over it in class; otherwise, it is still worth 80% of its original value after its Due Date. I will update this list as things are turned in and each week that the cut off dates occur.
Parents, encourage your students to check this site daily so they can receive as much credit as possible for the work they've done.

Just a note for my students, parents and colleagues.
Things are better for me and my family. My husband, Rick, is healing slowly but he's doing better. We learned today that his father in Arkansas was able to come home from the hospital after quadruple ByPass Surgery last Monday so we are very thankful for all your prayers over the past week.
Other than a few doctor follow up visits in the coming weeks, it will be nice to get back to a regular school schedule. Thank you for your patience while I get this site caught up. Both Physics and Chemistry Weekly Schedules are now up to date through the Thanksgiving Break.
Rick and I both appreciate all the support the North Lutheran High family has given us! May God richly bless you as you live and work for His Kingdom!

Just a note for my students, parents and colleagues.
Thank you all AGAIN for your support and prayers through this challenging time.
My husband, Rick, came home from the hospital Friday afternoon and while adjusting to logistics of how to do certain things we all take for granted ( like taking a shower, getting in and out of bed, putting on clothes, etc..) he's doing VERY well. I wanted to share the following that he sent out himself to our family last night after using his laptop for the first time in a while.
It's been quite a week for me. I had a double bypass surgery on Monday then spent the remainder of the week at Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge, CO recovering enough to come home. I came home yesterday afternoon.
My doctors and nurses tell me that I have had an astonishing recovery. They said that I was doing well enough on day 3 to allow me to come home but hospital policy required that they keep me for at least 4 days after the surgery. That's not to say that I'm not really sore, because I am :-) However, things are going much better than expected and is allowing me to write this note personally instead of having Belinda do it.
The hardest thing to deal with at this point is my breast bone since they had to cut it in half to access my heart. That means the real healing time for this operation is based on how long it takes the breast bone to heal. Like any other bone, it'll take 6-8 weeks. What makes this interesting is there is no cast so I have to be very careful how I move so as not to shear the bone. They do have it tied together really well, though.
I really appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers over the past few weeks. You have made a difference to me and my family.
For those that don't know, my Dad just couldn't stand the thought of my doing something that he hasn't done, so yesterday he was rushed to the hospital where they determined he needed a quadruple bypass surgery. Depending on the surgeon, it will be done today or Monday. You might keep my Mom and Dad in your thoughts and prayers, too. Of course, it helps to have recently gone through a successful bypass myself recently :-)
Regards,
Rick

Since he's been home, I've been picking up where the nursing staff left off; taking care of getting prescriptions, meals, shower/clothing assistance, laundry, etc.. I've also been tracking down short-term disability checks and getting bills paid. Really, my work load has increased since he's been home so I have yet to update the weekly schedules for this upcoming week. I am, however, prepared for classes tomorrow (Monday, Nov. 7) and I'm looking forward to seeing my students and colleagues!
Bare with me this week as I catch up and get back into a school day routine and AGAIN, THANK YOU for all your prayers and support!!!! Continue to keep Rick's and our family in your prayers too as his Dad will be undergoing Quadruple ByPass Surgery early Monday morning in Arkansas.
In Christ's love,
Belinda Nooner

Just a note for my students, parents and colleagues.
Thank you all for your support and prayers through this challenging time.
For those of you who don't already know, my husband, Rick, will be undergoing Coronary Bypass Surgery on Monday morning, October 31, at Lutheran Medical Center on 38th just west of Wadsworth.
I will not be at school Monday & Tuesday of this week for certain and I've left lesson plans for the entire week in case I need to be away longer. The weekly schedule here on this web site for both Chemistry and Physics is now up to date to include the entire weeks activities. Mr. Wilaby, Mr. Meyers, and Mrs. Wolfe will be covering my 2 classes.
I intend to keep everyone at school informed by sending email to Mr. Wilaby later on Monday so he can let you all know how things went. If time permits and if I'm able, I will also post an update here as well.
I enjoyed visiting with all of you who came to Parent Teacher night on Thursday and I especially appreciated all the care and support you gave to me as we discussed your students progress. Thank you for all the kind words and thank you for your understanding regarding this next weeks schedule. It is my hope that the tasks and assignments given in my absence will continue to be meaningful to your students and help further their education at North Lutheran.
Again, thank you for all your thoughts and prayers this next week and may God richly bless each you!
